March 5, 2010 The Excellence in Leadership Award is given to a nurse executive who demonstrates the ability to relate to and connect with the nursing staff through unique and effective methods. The award also represents the involvement of the recipient in the community through schools, clinics and civic organizations. Edmonson has been an active member of TONE since 2007 and during the time has served as the District 5 representative on the Board of Directors. He currently serves as president of the North Texas Organization of Nurse Executives (NTONE) and has been elected as the TONE treasurer for the 2009-2011 term. Edmonson's community involvement has made a significant impact on the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. He serves on the advisory committee for several universities in the Dallas area and has been instrumental in leading an initiative to restructure the DFW Great 100 Nurses event, presented by the Texas Nurses Association and the Dallas-Ft. Worth Nurse Executives. As a result of his leadership, he has broadened the involvement and sponsorship for the event to include organizations of local nurse leaders. Most recently, he won the Visionary Leader award sponsored by Nursing Management and he also delivered the keynote address at the organization's annual conference. Edmonson was presented the prestigious award in February at the Texas Hospital Association's leadership conference awards luncheon in Austin, Texas. |
